On behalf of all residents of The Seavingtons the Parish Council and the Community Land Trust working group would like to take this opportunity of thanking Andrew Whitehouse for his very generous gift of 3 houses for the benefit of the villages of Seavington St Mary and St Michael.
The CLT project team has now had several meetings with the Wessex Community Land Trust Project who are advising on the setting up of a Community Land Trust to manage the 3 houses. Although, at the moment, there is still no definite date as to when the development will commence, it is necessary that the legal framework for the CLT is in place as soon as possible.
At the meeting on 28th April of the Project Group it was recommended and agreed that a Community Benefit Society would be set up. This would give a fully flexible legal entity that could adopt other projects in the future. At that meeting, as an interim measure, Nick Loxton was elected Chair, Dennis Smith Vice Chair and Pauline Parsons Secretary. No Treasurer was agreed as it was not thought necessary at this time.
Another meeting with the WCLTP will be held on 26th May when the legal framework will be agreed.
Residents will be kept up-to-date with progress and details as to how anyone can become a ‘Member’ of the Trust via the Seavingtons’ News, Notice Boards and or flyers. A post box for the CLT has been placed in the Shop and a new e-mail set up – email@example.com – to enable residents to make their views known.21st May 2016
