Pancacke_tasters.jpgLots of exciting new ideas are being approved by your committee and many of them are now in place.  A comfortable seating area has now been introduced in the cafe (thanks to a grant from “The Field of Dreams”)  as well as the introduction of a book exchange scheme which is proving popular.  A Local builder has been commissioned to see improvements made to the access to the cafe from outside and we now operate a loyalty system for drinks in the cafe so make sure you pick up a card.  Additional improvements under discussion are the provision of a monthly monday pensioners lunch in the cafe, an improvement to our noticeboards and local advertising, we are investigating the provision of sunday continental breakfasts in the cafe and we are also looking at increasing cafe staffing to ensure a greater selection of food can be offered.  This measure will also see waiting times for meal preperation reduced.  Other improvements will see a daily delivery of fresh vegeatables for sale which will also allow ordering of fresh vegeatables through the shop.  We are also looking at the possible re-introduction of a full newspaper service.  

The recent visit of HRH the priness of Wessex has clearly put the cafe on peoples map as there has been a 105% increase in cafe turnover since the visit compared to the same period last year.  Another reason for increasing our staffing.  St David's day, St Patrick's day, St George's day, World book night the craft fair, and mothering Sunday have now all passed and we begin to look at forthcoming summer events.  (Please see the programs page on the website for full details) and elow is a photo of the recent Miles tea tasting gathering we had in the cafe (Feb 2012)

 Finally, now that we have been operating over 18 months, our volunteers are beginning to learn the ropes and get some experience of the retail and catering worlds which were so alien to us all 12 months ago.  As a consequence I must report that there is a noticeable improvement in the service we are offerring the village and surrounding area.
