Our January shop sale is now over.  It proved popular and was well supported by many villagers.  Most of the goods we had on offer have been purchased at bargain prices which helped both the shop (to get new stock in) and customers (who received some real bargains).  Because of its success and popularity we will look to regularly provide a number of goods on promotion at bargain prices within the shop.

Following a review of lines which do not sell well we have reluctantly had to stop providing fresh meat which we were supplied by Bonners and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all the hard work and support they have provided us in the past.

Pancacke_tasters.jpgLots of exciting new ideas are being approved by your committee and many of them will be put in place in early 2012.  There are plans to introduce a comfortable seating area in the cafe (thanks to a grant from “The Field of Dreams”)  as well as the introduction of a book exchange scheme which will initially be located in the same area in the cafe.  Improvements to access to the cafe from outside will commence shortly and we have just begun a loyalty system for drinks in the cafe so make sure you pick up a card.  Additional improvements to our service  will be implemented shortly and I will try and ensure these are advertised in the village magazine or website beforehand.

Below is a photo of the recent Miles tea tasting gathering we had in the cafe (Feb 2012)

Finally as I reviewed our performance over the first six months of my tenure as chairman, I realised that we had run a large number and variety of projects, all of which supported and strengthened the sense of community within the villages and I would entreat you to read about them further either on the website or in the February issue of the Seavingtons News.
