The Village Shop Project - The Shop Association
The Seavington Community Shop and Services Association is registered with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) as an Industrial Provident Society (IPS); its FSA registration number is: 30220R. The IPS arrangement is considered by the Village Retail Services Association (ViRSA) as offering the most appropriate legal stucture for a community owned and run shop and the Association's rules are based on ViRSA's agreed model rules. Members of the Association join by purchasing one £5 share which entitles them to a vote at any Association general meeting and to stand for office to serve on the Management Committee. Those members joining the Association before it was incorporated paid a £5 membership fee which, post registration, is being applied to purchase them a single share having the same number as their membership number.

Existing members will receive their share certificate during May 2007, new members are welcomed since the size of the membership gives grant awarding organisations an indication of residents' support for the project. To join and purchase a single £5 share please fill in the membership form and return it to the address given together with your remittance. Since the Association cannot accept payments by credit card this cannot be done on-line. Please send either cash or a cheque made out to: Seavington Shop Association.
