Young People
The village Plan consultative process revealed a widespread desire for facilities for young people in the villages. Since September 2006 the Somerset Rural Youth Project (SRYP) has been working in the villages and reported to the Parish Council on 20th March 2007. The report was received positively; there was a meeting for all village young people, their friends and parents at the Millennium Hall on 27th April and from May 23rd the young people are invited to meet on a regular basis - click here for details.
The Seavingtons' News has offered regulat space in its monthly publication for the young people to create their own "section"; further, meantime, this area of the village web-site is available for them to supply content..
YOUTH FOOTBALL
Sadly, the Seavington Football Team disbanded in 2005 thus denying our youth from playing organised football on our own home ground. Fortunately, the Merriott Youth Football Club is now using the Seavington facilities and is open to the youth of the Seavington villages.
If any young people are interested in playing football they should contact the secretary, Monica Hayden, on 01460 74449 -she will be pleased to hear from you.
When you contact Monica she will give you the manager and training times of your age group. If they just wish to train rather than play in a team that is fine as well.
All the managers and coaches have at least Level 1 training which includes Child Protection and first aid.
