Electricity
Electricity supplies to both villages are provided by South West Power Distribution but residents can choose from a wide variety of competing retail power suppliers. Cost comparisons and change of supplier can be effected through USWITCH by clicking here .
Gas
Only parts of the villages have the benefit of piped mains gas. As with electricity there are competing retail suppliers. Cost comparisons and change of supplier can be effected through USWITCH by clicking here .
Heating Oil
There is a village scheme for bulk purchase of heating oil. The discount of several pence per litre is obtained by arranging for a tanker to tour the scheme’s members on the same day, thus avoiding return trips to the depot. Anyone wishing to join the scheme should contact:
Nigel Key: 01460 241540 or oil@theseavingtons.org
Telecommunications
Telecommunications services come from BT’s telephone exchange in South Petherton. As in other parts of the UK residents are allowed to take their services from BT or alternative providers, some of who require that you have a BT line installed for which rental is paid to BT.
As well as ordinary telephone services residents may subscribe to ADSL broadband or fibre (to the cabinet) broadband. At present the maximum broadband speed available is 76Mb (in theory).
All telecommunications enquiries should be directed to BT or your alternative chosen service provider for either telephone or internet (data) access.
Water
Water and sewage services are provided by Wessex Water, 1, Clevedon Walk, Nailsea, Bristol, BS48 1WW; telephone: 0845 600 4600.
